ILEIA is an independent organization based in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, aiming to enhance knowledge on small-scale, sustainable agriculture, particularly in developing countries. ILEIA coordinates a worldwide network of partner organizations with a similar aim. The network shares a website and jointly publishes seven regional editions of a magazine on sustainable, small-scale farming.
We are expanding our activities and are therefore looking for a
WEBMASTER F/M
ILEIA is working on the development of a new website, to be built by an outside company. The webmaster is to play an active, supportive and advisory role in this. Once the site is built, it will be webmaster’s responsibility to maintain it. The webmaster is part of a web team, which takes decisions regarding web tools, and informs the management.
Responsibilities
- Translate the needs of the organisation into ideas for a new website, together with the web building company.
- Co-ordinate and contribute to writing up-to-date content related to sustainable, small-scale farming for the website and various web 2.0 tools (blog posts, tweets, etc.)
- Gather information for editors and partners of the network, on both sustainable agriculture and technical web-related matters.
- Co-ordinate web activities of the network and support network partners.
- Manage information: add documents and information to databases, and keep databases up to date.
Requirements
- Familiarity with open source CMS (preferably Drupal).
- Knowledge of databases in general and MySQL in particular.
- Experience with and interest in web 2.0 tools (ILEIA has a blog, and is active on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and Ning).
- An eye for communication: ideas on how and when to use various digital tools and how to address target groups.
- Capacity to work in an intercultural team and ability to clearly communicate with non-technical people.
- Proven web writing skills.
- Good oral and written English. Knowledge of other languages an advantage.
- Affinity with issues related to sustainable agriculture, social justice and environment.
